Wifi name is no longer showing up on my laptop and tv, but viasat modem is showing up blue. I can only get connected to wifi to my work laptop if i use the ethernet cord from the modem but cant get wifi to my tv nor my personal laptop. Without the ethernet cord, the wifi name is not showing up. I did a diagnosis on the viasat app and the error states something about a dish alignment (even when there were no strong winds or storms last weekend). Called viasat and they want to charge 93 bucks for a technician to come out or add the care package for 10 bucks more a month.
Paying 230 bucks for wifi and they still want to charge extra to come out? Cmon. First time hearing of this.
Hi @Zongievang
Thanks for reaching out to the Forum team! I’ve had a look at your account, and there is currently no hardware issue present (such as a mispoint or a dish misalignment).
Did this problem with the Wi-Fi name start recently? I’ve noticed that your modem is currently set to “Bridge Mode” – are you using an External Router, or only the Viasat-provided modem? Bridge Mode disables the Wi-Fi signal from the modem, so this may be the cause of your issue.
PS @Zongievang
I have disabled Bridge Mode on your Viasat Modem, so the Wi-Fi connections should return soon. The equipment will run a short reboot session of around 5 minutes – if you notice that your modem turns off for a while, this is why.
Let us know if you can connect to the Wi-Fi after that!
Im only using the modem that viasat provided me.

I took off the plug from the outlet last friday after work (to save energy), first time doing so. Then this past monday morning i plugged it back in and then the wifi name wasnt popping up anymore on any of my devices. Not sure if it was because i left the plug out for 3 days over the weekend.
Will let you know if it works. I did notice the disabling.

Hi @Zongievang
I see that you spoke to a Customer Care agent on August 5, and they did a factory reset on your modem.
Was the Wi-Fi name still showing up for you after that?
All right, thanks!
Wifi works now. Im able to see and use the wifi name without plugging in the ethernet cord. I can finally go back to working wherever i want in the house instead of being stuck in one room with the cord.
Thank you so much! I have a home in minnesota but since my parents live here in OK I rented a place to be closer to them since theyre both unwell. Brought my work laptop down here and when wifi didnt work last week i was really close to just cancelling here and moving back to minnesota.
I was on call with support and did a reset on the modem and still didnt work, as soon as I agreed to a tech coming out for an extra 93 dollars i noticed the wifi working again. But as soon as i declined and stated i didnt need a tech anymore and we hung up, the wifi went back to not working without the ethernet cord.
Its working now so thank you so much for.your help
