Viasat App to Locate Dish

Does Viasat have an app similar to Starlink to locate my dish for the best connectivity to the satellite?

Hi, @rgevans871,

Yes, it’s the MITe app. It’s available for Android and Apple:

Do you want to report any connectivity issues?

Not yet, but I’m expecting I will soon. The trees are closing the view my dish has of the sky. I want to look for a new location for the dish. The app you suggested to find a clear view of the satellite doesn’t have a very good rating by Apple users.

Hi @rgevans871 ,

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if your service quality worsens, we’ll be more than happy to assist.

Thanks,
Leonardo

As I’ve indicated previously, I’m going to be looking for a new location for my dish as its current view of the sky is being taken over by tree limbs looking for the sun. It appears that my less restricted views of the sky are quite a bit further away from the house than its current location. I’m wondering what distance my dish can be from the modem and if there are any signal amplification options available if necessary to get more distance?

Hi, @rgevans871,

Sorry for the slow response.

Answering your questions:

1- Usually the maximum distance is 150’ with RG6 coaxial cable. However, if the line of sight is a concern, we can use RG11 if the distance is greater than 150’ and less than 400’.

2 - As for signal amplification: no, that is not applicable to our stuff.
