Terribly slow speeds

I just had techs replace the TRIA on my dish becasue what was supppsedly my problem. Guess what…? That was not my problem. Right back to wild speed swings and complete drops. Extended periods of sub 1 mbps downloads. Seeing that is all other posters’ experiences, i think this is just a bad service. I’d appreciate an honest answer from viasat that this is what their service is and look for an alternative. Like going back to my snail slow dsl. Sad when that is a better option than viasat.

Hi @Greg_Johnson

Sorry about the slow reply.

We initially requested this service call to check your TRIA and equipment because you have high speeds on most Speedchecks and modem tests, and no other inherent issue on your setup – and the drops could not be explained by our tools and investigations.

However, I see that after your tech visit, your Speedchecks all show errors:

Your speeds are still good, so we can’t currently explain why you experience slower service at times. Your network region is also very healthy.

We’ll escalate internally to understand if there is something wrong with your setup after this tech visit.

Thanks for getting back to me. Please do all you can to get to the bottom of this as I need to look for an alternative if thus can’t be resolved ASAP.

I’ve seen that “listener is off” message before. What does that mean and is there a way for me to turn it on and resolve the error?

Hi @Greg_Johnson

I’ve escalated that Listener error to our Speedcheck team, but it’s not a problem with your modem per se… It happened to be a bug on our side and the team has since fixed it.

Were you able to run any new Speedchecks since the 27th? Please let us know if you still see this error message.

I cannot check right now. Is this error fix going to help performance and stop the slow downs and drops or is there something else going on?

Hi @Greg_Johnson

No rush! Whenever you have some time, just to be sure that the error no longer shows up.

This “Listener” error was only a SpeedCheck bug, no relation to the situation with your modem’s offline events.

still experiencing wildly fluctuating speeds and frequent buffering and drops. Have you found anything out on your end?
