In about February of this year we “upgraded” from the Liberty 30 Plan to the CHOICE25/60GB Plan.
The Liberty 30 plan was insufficient for our needs but otherwise was bog slow and very expensive.
While searching for any alternative service I discovered that ViaSat had a plan offering twice the data for half what I had been paying… Sounded promising, except…
The CHOICE25/60GB plan has some peculiarities that to me are utterly inexplicable:
First, I cannot download any reCAPTCHA Challenge. At all. Ever. Will not download. If I need to use a reCAPTCHA Challenge to complete a login, I have to use my cell phone hotspot to connect to the internet.
Second, using the Viasat SPOCK modem, simply downloading GOOGLE requires repeated page refreshes just to get the Google App Loader to open.
Opening Google Maps is an ordeal requiring 30 minutes or more and 20 plus page refreshes to complete.
This is unacceptable. And beyond goofy.
With only two bars of reception on my cell phone I can connect my lap top to the internet and avoid all the ViaSat related problems and get significantly faster speeds.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide me to address these problems.
I apologize for the delay. I thought I had it set up so I would receive email notices of replies, but I guess I didn’t succeed.
The only absolute refusals to complete a download are the Google App loader, Google Maps and a reCAPTCHA Challenge. Otherwise page loading is normal (slow).
I use the latest version of Firefox on Win10.
I’ll pay more frequent attention to the forum now and try to get the set up to notify me of replies.
If step 1 fails, could you please try some different browsers to check if those services work? Testing on Google Chrome and on the Viasat browser (https://browser.viasat.com/) should suffice.
OK… Downloaded and opened the ViaSat Browser and… Google Maps opened!! And a reCAPTCHA challenged opened!!
I’m surprised and amazed. And the response is discernibly faster, too.
Something has to be wrong with Firefox…
Glad it worked! Viasat browser has some optimizations for extracting the most out of your Viasat connection, so we usually recommend its usage. If you face any other issue while using it or any other issue in general, please don’t hesitate to let us know and we’ll be glad to help!
