Speed issue! Help!

Hello,

I am trying to play my ps5 and I am lagging really bad. Im not sure how to read this but i did a speed test and also i took a screen shot of my plan. Am i getting the right amount?

On your screenshot, I can see that your device was getting about 10 Mbps, but we can’t really see your modem speeds without the Viasat browser.

I see however that you just changed your plan, so hopefully this has fixed your speed issues :slight_smile:

Just to make sure, we’d like to ask you to run a full speed diagnosis, to test your new plan too.

When you have time, can you please run a few tests using the guide below?

  • You can download the Viasat Browser here: https://browser.viasat.com/.
  • After you install the browser, you need to be logged in on speedcheck.viasat.com.
    • To do that, click “Login” in the upper right corner of the menu, as indicated in the picture below.
    • The credentials for this login are the same as the ones you use for MyViasat.

When you run the tests from the Viasat browser, we can see “Speed from your device” and most importantly “Speed from your modem”, which is greatly useful to identify discrepancies in the speeds, such as in this example below:

I know this is a bit more cumbersome than just running a normal test, but the complete diagnosis helps us eliminate other factors.

Speed is one thing you need for gaming yes, But you also need a very low Ping the average ping for Viasat/Hughesnet is around 600-700, With that latency it will rubber band you in most games “Lag” Since the data is traveling a far distance, Games Like Call of Duty, Forza fortnight and the such will have issues playing since they rely on quick reactions, Games like certain mmos, candy crush, Age of empires will work better since they don’t need those same quick actions to play online…

I can confirm for me anyways that gears 5/Fallout 76/Diablo and a few others work generally well for me tho!
