Slow speeds Again. Download speeds are inconsistent. Upload speed are consistently less than 1.2 and most of the time at .5 mbps from the modem which translates to less than 0.5 mbps speeds on the device. This is totally unacceptable. I have rebooted the devices in the order you all have detailed. I am running the test via the viast browser.
I know my chosen plan calls for better speeds than what I am receiving . I also know that I am not over my data limits since I have started a new cycle period.
I’ve made some changes to your network that will be effective roughly one hour from now, could you test it then and let me know if it improved the situation with your service?
Fyi…the last time a tech came out he had to adjust the antenna after replacing a part–which I cannot recall at this time. this was maybe 6 months ago. we have had some pretty severe storms in the last few months
When looking at result history, I think the tech came out In January of this year.
And from what i recall, from my conversation with him - it was related to my SNR – being way to low. I think he said that i should have at least a snr of 9 or 9.5.
Judging by all your tests (old and recent), it seems the Upload gets slower during the early and late evening, which might be tied to peak-period congestion (which would explain why your tests get a “Wi-Fi or distance issue” warning only at those moments).
Your antenna and dish currently do not have any issues, but just to make sure that we are not dealing with a different problem, could you please run a few tests during different periods of the day (like you were already doing earlier), but connected directly via cable?
If all of those tests were done via cable, then we are dealing with a peak evening period on your region.
Your account recently passed through a weather outage during July 17-18, so this may have affected your speeds as well (the tests for July 17th and 18h seem to be the worst ones).
According to our analysis, your internet setup doesn’t have any inherent issues besides that.
I can see both good and bad speed results in your tests, which can be explained by the time of the day they were run – hence the fluctuation between fast and slow speeds. Your download speeds are usually great, but they also drop during the evening – much like your upload speeds.
We usually recommend connecting fewer devices to your network, if possible, during these peak periods – and keeping track of your high-speed data, so you don’t fall into the deprioritized standard data.
Your last posting about the wifi connection trigger me to check my connection closer. My primary computer has the capability to run either WIFI or cable. I just checked and discovered the connection was being made using wifi – even though it was connected with a cable. Explains the wifi message. Normally this computer is not set that way. I turned the wifi off and it is making a connection via cable now. I will still monitor and run some more test with the cable connection. I will let you know. I prefer cable connection it will most always be faster…at least in my area.
