Slow Internet, New user July 2024

New user, was expecting atleast 50 mbps, was promised 100 mbps.
Speed not sufficient for doing anything in the new world. Seems like iam transferred to 2007.

You will NEVER see speeds close to 50 with this service your speeds are faster than my typical speeds they have been “looking” into my speed issues for quite a while now. I will see speeds boost slightly when I restart my router and that means 11-15 mbps that’s actually pretty fast compared to the less than 1mbps that I often see. I feel for you because it’s not going to get better if anything it just gets worse. Good luck to you.

Hi @Earth_Resident

I see that this is your first time posting on the Forum, thanks for reaching out to us!

I’d like to have a look at your account to check if anything is amiss, but I couldn’t find a Viasat account associated with your email address.

I’ve sent you a private message asking for this account information, please let me know if you don’t receive it.

i have replied to the dm. Look fwd to a resolution

Oh wow! what keeps you with the service? i tried using a competitor via sim(its a major wireless company) and got ~40mbps, dont know why i thought sat would give me close to 100-120

Lack of other options. I also have Hughes net which is usually slower if you can believe that. HughesNet at least maintains a steady speed between 5-10 mbps which is also horrible but better than Viasat when it dips into the 1-2 mbps rendering it basically useless. I hope they are able to get your speeds up better than mine. I am currently waiting for a STARLINK system which is a good bit more expensive up front but I know people in my area that use it. STARLINK has a lot more satellites than Viasat and they are in lower orbit so I’m hoping I have better luck with them. I’ve had pretty consistent speeds lower than 5mbps since April with Viasat they keep saying they have made changes to my network and that results in speeds more around 10mbps for a few days then I have to complain again. It’s really irritating. Good luck with your Viasat experience.

Starlink sounds much geeky(for a star wars fan), i would buy that marketing angle

Let hope it’s strong with the force and actually delivers stable reliable speeds over 20mbps

Hi @Earth_Resident ,

I’m sorry about your experience.

Your unleashed plan offers download speeds up to 25 - 100 Mbps. Based on that, I ran a speed test on your modem and it seems to be receiving better speeds now.

If you are having a bad experience, it could be possible that your device is getting slower speeds than your modem. I see that you are already familiar with our Speed Check tool. So, when you get a chance can you please use a laptop or Android phone to run a complete speed diagnosis using https://speedcheck.viasat.com? This will help us get a full reading on the speed situation and allow us to identify/rule out Wi-Fi issues. You will only need the Viasat Browser and to be logged in with your MyViasat credentials.

You can find the instructions on how to run it here: How to run a complete speed diagnosis

Thanks,
Isabela
