Best speed I ever got before going to unleashed was 12 mbps which is slow but we are in the middle of nowhere so it is to be expected. Then I upgraded to unleashed and speed promptly dropped to .5 mbps with upload of about 4mbps. So had a Tech come out and tech support tried to tell him over the phone that it was network congestion which is obviously ridiculous. Eventually the tech basically replaced everything but the cable itself so pretty much all new installation. Speeds were great for that whole day 35-45 mbps download best we have ever had after 2 years with Viasat. It was like that for the first week or 2. Now it has gotten slow again, unbearably slow!!! .75mbps download again 6mbps upload, which should never be near what the download speed is either way nowhere near the 25-100 mbps range I am supposed to be getting. This is ridiculous!!!
Hi @Dvestal49
Sorry about this experience you’re having with Viasat.
I see that you ran a few Speedchecks for us, thank you
I’m having a look at the results and your setup right now, and I’ll let you know as soon as we have new information.
Hi, @Dvestal49,
We made some changes to your network configuration. It might take up to 2h for the changes to apply.
You can continue using the internet normally. Please let us know by tomorrow if you notice any improvements.
Thanks!
No there has been really no change just ran another speed check and it was 13 ish at the modem and not quite 8 at the device and almost 8 upload. As far as I know upload should never be anywhere near the download speed and rhey are almost the same or upload is better wuite often.
Hi, @Dvestal49,
I see, let me check that again.
Still ridiculously slow!!! If anything it has gotten worse since you made changes. Download and upload both below 5mbps, but both about the same. Again in my experience upload speed should never be anywhere near as fast as download speed.
Ok this is just getting ridiculous now. I am restarting my modem several times a day to try to get any usable internet at all. Even that is not really helping.less than 5 mbps download and almost 10 mbps upload at the modem and somehow .8 download and over 8 upload at my device standing right next to the modem.

Is this ever going to get better at all??? Or do I need to have you guys come get your dish? I am painfully close to just haveing no internet at all rather than paying all this money for internet that never never never works a fraction as well as is promised!!!

Hi @Dvestal49
Sorry about the delay.
We escalated your issue to a few of our internal teams and were waiting for a reply.
According to our analysis, your internet setup doesn’t have any inherent issues.
The bad speeds seen in the evening might be caused by network congestion during the peak busy period (evening hours).
I can see both good and bad speed results in your tests, which can be explained by the time of the day they were run.
During the peak period, we’d recommend connecting fewer devices to your network, not using VPN, and connecting your device via Ethernet cable if possible.
If you run out of priority data, your traffic is not prioritized, and you might see slower rates too, especially during the peak busy periods.
Hi I can appreciate you have canned responses you are supposed to use when there is a customer complaint especially about speed based on the posts on this forum. Such as network congestion data prioritization etc. But as I am on unleashed data is a non issue, however if your assertion is that network congestion in my area can drive speeds down to .5mbps then your network must be completely useless. And I used to get better speeds than that even in peak times when I did have data limitations. This whole situation and the automatic responses I keep getring from customer service are absolutely ridiculous. There has got to be something on your end as my end was completely renewed that can be done make the speeds consistently be in the promised range of 25-100 mbps. If not contact me to schedule a tine to retrieve your garbage from my home and I will go with no internet at all rather than continuing to pay for internet I dont get anyway!!!
Hi @Dvestal49
Sorry for the confusion. Regarding the speeds, the Unleashed plan offers up to 25-100Mbps.
The Unleashed plan works differently than previous plans – I believe the agents from Customer Care (#855-463-9333) who deal with Account/Billing queries could better inform you about its specifics.
We’re currently investigating your modem as it’s had a few offline events/drops this week.
I know how it works I know the speeds ai should be getting, and the “offline events” as you call them are me rebooting the router because I am getting less than 1 mbps and restarting is the only way to get anything better and only for a short time at that. Please stop trying to placate me with excuses and fix the problem. Because paying what I am paying and getting unusable internet in return is a problem, and if you don’t fix it (and soon) then I will.
