My upload speed is extremely low

We love our Viasat internet for simple Internet use, however, our upload speed is horrible. Testing today, download speed is around 45 while upload speed is 0.40 at best. Is there a fix to the problem? We unplugged our router to reset it, with the same results. Our computer is directly wired to the router via Ethernet cable.

Hi, @tom123kathy,

Thanks for your message.

I’m going to investigate that, and once I have some feedback I let you know.

@tom123kathy, when you have a chance please send us the results of a speed test from your modem. I need to see if you have a Wi-Fi issue.

I did some tests and I could not reproduce the bad speeds:

Here are the instructions:
1 - Open the Viasat browserthis test won’t work on other browsers;
2 - Go to this website: Viasat Speed Check | Home
3 - Log in using your My Viasat account
4 - Run the test (wait for both tests - modem and device - to complete)

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your cooperation!

Thank you for the reply. I have done speed check through Viasat Speed Check plus other Internet speck checks and my tests are still averaging 45 download and 0.4 upload. You can view my Viasat test history if you wish. I am connected directly to the Viasat Modem via Ethernet cable, so WiFi should not be the issue unless having other devices Wifi’d to the router is what you mean.

How do I send you speed test results you asked for?

I disconnected all 3 devices we had wifi’d to the Viasat router and ran another test. download was near 90 but upload was still bad, only 0.50 Appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi, @tom123kathy,

Just a question: did you log in? One of confirming that is by checking if you can see an avatar icon (with a letter inside it) on the right side of the header:

If you were logged in, I could see the results remotely, but perhaps there was a problem (because I can’t see any), let me know if that’s the case.

If it’s not possible to log in, please send us a screenshot of the results (please include all the information rendered on the screen on your screenshot)

Yes, I am logged in and can view the seven different speed test results history from today. I am not sure what a screen shot is but if all you need are the last few result history: 87.84/0.47, 62.51/0.44 and 26.51/0.37. The other four results are consistent with around 0.40 upload. Thanks

Thanks, @tom123kathy,

Sorry for the inconvenience. I asked about the screenshot because we’ll need the other information that the test returns.

You can try pressing pressing Windows logo key + Shift + S.

If you save the picture, then you can copy and paste it here in the text editor.

You can see more details here: Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots - Microsoft Support

is this what you need? This was my eighth speed check

You can see the download varies greatly, but upload stays very low. Our computer guy lives 4 hours away and the only way we can have help from him with our computer is through Anydesk or other programs where he can look into our computer. These programs will not work unless the upload is at least 4.0, so 0.40 is pretty bad and will not let these programs function.

Thanks, @tom123kathy,

In the last test results can you also see the speeds from your modem? Or the only result you get is from your device?

I am not sure what you mean. The only test results are what that photo shows.

Hi, @tom123kathy,

Sorry, let me explain what I meant. When you run a speed test (if you used Viasat browser, and did log in on the speed check app), the results will have the speeds from your device and from your modem, as the following picture:

I wanted to see the data from the “Signal quality metrics” and “Speed from your modem” sections.
