My modem has been making noise since yesterday, all night and again today. It sounds like a whirring noise. The modem sits on a stand with nothing bumping up against it, or on top of it. It has been in the same position since the service technician installed the modem almost a year ago. The noise is nonstop, I even unplugged it and plugged it back in a minute later to see if that stopped the issue but it did not. Do we need a new modem? We can’t live with this noise. I’m including a photo to show you where the modem has been located for our entire service time.

And yes the modem seems to be warmer than normal. We have our entire house air conditioned and the temp year round inside our house is within a few degrees the same all year round. I suspect the modem has just gone bad and needs replaced.
Ok I made a short video clip of the modem making noise. It lasts longer than this but a longer video clip won’t go through if I try to send it.
