today my internet stopped working. the modem is blinking white. i tried to reboot the modem and it didnt help either time. i tried to run a diagnostic and it says dish needs to be aligned… it was windy here yesterday. i am capable with tools and can get to the dish if there is a way i can do this myself. last time it took the technician over a month to cone out and fix my issue and was never told what the issue was last time. the my viasat app says its an alignment issue.
the internet just now came back online. so it must only be out a small amount. is there a way i can adjust it with an app or something so i can see the best peak signal and also not need a technician to come all the way out here for a 10 minute job?
thanks in advance.
earl
here is a screenshot of the speed test while working. everything seems to look great now. maybe something was being reset or some weather was interfering for 30 minutes to cause the diagnostic to say it was out of alignment. however id still like to know if its possible to adjust the signal on my own.
internet just dropped again. its very cloudy here today but im guessing the wind might have moved the dish some yesterday and it does need adjusting.
Hi @Earl_J ,
I noticed that your modem has been offline twice today. I have escalated your issue and will update you as soon as I have more information on the cause.
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
Isabela
thank you. when i ran the diagnostic it says it needs to be aligned. last time it took over a month for them to come fix that issue. id rather not go without internet and calling another month if i can just adjust it myself. i cant receive calls if the internet is down so i wont be able to speak with the ppl that come to repair it. thank you.
hi Isabella.
i was just looking at the satellite dish for anything obvious and on the feedhorn part of the dish is a plastic cap and that cap is full of water and condensation. im fairly certain this is the issue. i will take a picture when my 3 year old daughter falls asleep and i can go back out and look at it again. wondering if this was the issue last time also. weve been getting alot of rain here. no clue why its leaking or why its holding the water inside.
Hi @Earl_J ,
I can’t confirm yet if the issue is with your antenna or another cause. The misalignment alert might be misleading since your modem is offline. Once we determine the cause, you may want to attempt a self-repoint. You can find information about self-repointing here: Can I repoint my Viasat antenna on my own?.
If a self-repoint doesn’t sound viable, then we can look into scheduling a technician visit to repoint your antenna and improve your experience.
Hi @Earl_J ,
That does seem to be a problem. Is the water in a place where you could drain it?
If not, I think a technician visit might be needed.
i am going to go look at it better here in a minute. had to wait for my daughter to nap so i could go look at it better and take a picture of it. i dont know much about satellite antenna so ill take a picture and see if its drain able.
not sure if i can drain it without damaging it. im pretty sure this is the issue ive been having though.
Hi @Earl_J ,
In this case, it would be best to schedule a technician visit to promptly and safely resolve the issue.
Since you mentioned they wouldn’t be able to call you due to the internet being down, may I suggest they contact you via email instead?
yes that works. im here every day. if im not here someone always is. email is fine texting my cell phone works also but sometimes takes an hour ir 2 to go through
Hi @Earl_J ,
I have contacted our Field Operations Team, you can expect an email from them to schedule the appointment.
Best regards,
Isabela
it looks like that plastic cap had some small cracks around the edges and thats where the water got in. hopefully its an easy fix for them.
thank you. ill keep an eye out for it
earl

I’m having the same issue. My internet stopped working out of nowhere last night and when I run a diagnostic test it shows 2 issues the first issue is dish alignment and the second issue is dish to modem connection. I made an appointment for a technician to come out but it won’t be until Monday. Is it anything I can do myself to fix the problem?
For public knowledge, @Lyric_Nesbitt 's issue is being worked on: My internet stopped working out of nowhere last night
