Deplorable speeds…less than 7 mbs and this is with plenty of “high speed” data available !
Hi @Parste,
I just ran a test from your modem and I can see these speeds:
Could you please run a complete speed diagnosis on https://speedcheck.viasat.com/ and share the results with us? This will help us rule out any Wi-Fi issues.
Here are some instructions to run this test: How to run a speed test from my modem?
Thanks,
Nacho
Ran test: dnld= 5.7 , upld= 1.9
Ran at 6:31 pm pst
Hi @Parste ,
Did you run the test on speedcheck.viasat.com while logged on to your Viasat account and using the Viasat browser? I was not able to find any records of your test on our system.
Thanks,
Leonardo
I ran the test but not using viasat browser .
I replied in forum to Nacho…
Dnld=5.7 mbs , upld= 1.9 mbs … ran at 6 pm pst
Hi, @Parste,
We asked you to use the Viasat browser so we could get more details from the test results, otherwise, it’s hard to say what could be the issue.
If you log in and run the test, using the Viasat browser, we’ll be able to see your signal quality metrics and the speeds from your modem.
When you have a chance, could you try that? It would help us a lot.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your cooperation!
Ran tests as you requested. Modem speed about twice device speed test.
Hi @Parste,
This discrepancy in the speeds between the device and the modem could indicate that there is a Wi-Fi issue.
How far from your modem were you at the time you ran the test? Could you please run another test on the same device but this time standing next to your modem? That way we can fully validate the Wi-Fi issue and provide a recommendation.
Thanks,
Nacho
Ran two test sitting next to modem
Hi @Parste,
I see these 2 tests, but it looks like the test from the modem didn’t work. Did you see an error of any kind?
Could you please try logging out (you can do this by clicking on the 3 lines on the top left corner of the app and then “sign out”), logging back in, and then running one final test?
Thanks for your help troubleshooting this issue,
Nacho
Ran two tests sitting next to modem and info was complete. That would be just prior to those you viewed that failed…error msg stated couldn’t locate/connect to viasat modem…
I will try again.
Thanks
Just ran again, device dnld 16+ maps and modem 49+mbps
Have not rec’d any follow up since ran additional tests as requested. ???
Hi @Parste,
Sorry about the slow reply.
Seeing your latest results I noticed 2 interesting things:
- Your Wi-Fi SSID (Network Name) says “Unknown”, could you please let us know what network you are connected to? It is probably Viasat-2g OR Viasat-5g
- Your Wi-Fi signal is “good” and not “excellent” despite the fact that you are sitting next to your modem. Do you have any other routers (from other providers) near your Viasat modem? Sometimes these can cause interference so that’s why I ask.
If there is no congestion, then you might need an additional router, we can provide more details once we hear back from you.
Thanks,
Nacho
It is Viasat…no information as to 2g or 5g.
No other modems, routers, etc.
Hi @Parste,
This appears to be a Wi-Fi signal issue. An external router such as this one (TP-Link AC1200 Gigabit WiFi Router - Archer A6 ) could improve the Wi-Fi coverage in your house.
If you get that router or a similar one, the Wi-Fi coverage in your house would improve and the speeds on your devices could be as good as the speeds on your modem.
Thanks,
Nacho
